An update on my father: 

he isn’t recovering how the doctor needs him to so we’ve had to make the very risky choice of putting him through the surgery regardless. He’s been moved to a hospital in the capital and will have several tests and smaller procedures to try and figure out the best and least dangerous way to replace his heart valve. I want to thank everyone who donated to me over the holidays, it means so much to me. I will leave my ko-fi open as I will be taking more time off of work, as will my mother, so we will be short of funds. And if the worst happens we will definitely need all the help we can get; he already has over half a million dollars in medical bills racked up.

If he makes it through the surgery we are looking at months of hard, specialized therapy to get him independent enough to live on his own. If he doesn’t, we are likely going to have to go to court over his assets and some of the dubious choices the hospitals made in his care.
