Remember when Stephen Hawking was more worried about inequality under capitalism than artificial intelligence in a Reddit AMA and people started telling him to read an economics 101 book? Wild. Anyways rip Steve
âIf machines produce everything we need, the outcome will depend on how things are distributed. Everyone can enjoy a life of luxurious leisure if the machine-produced wealth is shared, or most people can end up miserably poor if the machine-owners successfully lobby against wealth redistribution. So far, the trend seems to be toward the second option, with technology driving ever-increasing inequality.
Itâs kinda hard to be an effective rebel when you gotta devote 40+ hours of your week to a company that demands more labor than the human body can give for barely enough money to keep you barely alive. Keep that in mind when youâre criticising people for not treating activism as their full time job.
âBallet embraces the soft, ethereal and majestic side to women, and yet we often donât see the media portray black women in this light. My project aims to reveal that women of color possess these qualities. We too are capable of portraying the princess, fairy and swan.â
 âAesha Ash
Aesha Ashâs prestigious career has included world class roles. Yet sheâs now on to a different mission, with three big goals. She wishes to see ballet become more diverse. She hopes to inspire youth from rough areas to pursue their dreams. And she wants to show the world that tough environments canât hold back talented people, especially those with ambition.
The dancer points out that black women have always existed in ballet, yet few become principals, the highest tier of dancers. When Misty Copeland became the first black female principal with the prestigious American Ballet Theatre last summer, Aesha found the milestone a moment to celebrate, yet sad and troubling that in 2016, weâre still celebrating a first. She hopes The Swan Dreams project will give more dancers â and youths in general â the chance to be celebrated for their own talents.
Rochester has one of Americaâs highest crime rates. But Aesha hits the streets to prove that her hometown is more than violence and gangs. Thatâs where her Swan Dreams Project comes in. âMy community saw that out of our environment came a ballerina, not just negativity â a little black girl from inner city Rochester actually went on to become a professional ballet dancer in a top-tiered company,â Aesha said in a one-on-one interview for this report. âYouth followed me on the street saying, âThis is what we need. This lifts us up.ââ
everything became a lot easier when i realized that trying to recreate past experiences because i miss how fun they were isnât ever going to turn out how i want it to. and itâs alot better and more productive to experience the next great phase of my life instead, create NEW fun memories
Just wanna remind yall that the artist re/dkat/herin/ee is a VERY VOCAL and VERY VIOLENT transphobe. yeah, her art is nice but she is truly a rotten person and i would rather not see her art on my dashboard.Â
Take one look into her âmy artâ tag and there are a bunch of straw men fallacies about trans women and comics about how trans men are just women with âinternal misogynyâ. its ugly. dont support her work.
Her new blog is re/dpea/chh
Sheâs still just as fucking gross and transphobic
Just an FYI, for some reason the first blog was resurrected
the saddest sight in the world is a married couple at a musical and the wife is super excited and happy and the husband looks like he was dragged along and heâs making a big deal about how much he doesnât want to be there and the wife gets embarrassed or ashamed. this isnât a funny post, itâs actually heartbreaking and i see it happen at like every other musical i attend.
Yeah, as an usher what makes me sad is when I see wives clearly dressed in their Sunday best, beaming and buying merch and smiling at me as I hand them a program, toting some guy dressed in jeans and a sweatshirt who declines a program. And thatâs at least a quarter of the couples who come in or more. Like come on man, she really loves this stuff, canât you try to enjoy it for her at least?
About as bad as when you see a big-eyed kid who looks like this is the greatest day of their life, all excited to see this show, and their parent/grandparent/aunt/Cousin/Friend/whoever they convinced to take them keeps making fun of them and saying how dumb or ridiculous theyâre being. For Gods sake, this is a person you care about and this is a thing that means a lot to them. Smile, get off your phone, and be happy for them.
anyway jeff bezos could eradicate homelessness. he could literally give each homeless person 100k and it would only take less than .5% of his entire wealth. what the actual god giving fuck
Why do you think they deserve it
Well shelter is a basic need, and would at the very least allow them a place where they can get back on their feet. Food water and shelter are necessary for a healthy body and psychology. Thereâs also the fact that theyâre people too, and a little help goes a long way in making a decent community. Thereâs plenty of reasons
Yeah they need stuff, but why does every homeless person deserve 0.5% of someoneâs income
You have five hundred apples, and just one day to eat them all.Â
You pass by a small crowd of hungry children, and decide youâd rather 455 apples go rotten than give them to some snotty brat who isnât your problem.
It doesnât matter how hard youâve worked for your 500 apples, or that you arenât the parent of any of those kids. in the moment you decide to walk away, it doesnât matter why theyâre hungry, or who owes who what.
You had the opportunity to help people, you had the ability to help people, you had the resources to help people. You had everything you needed to make a small, tiny little difference in someoneâs life, and you decided not to.
What are you going to buy in your lifetime thatâs worth more to you than your own humanity?
What are you going to buy in your lifetime thatâs worth more to you than your own humanity
Reblogging for the very, very important lesson
Sometimes I wish there were a Hell if only for the visuals of a bunch of rich shit heads wandering around on fire asking âWhereâs my money?!â
Man fuck Jeff Bezos. He sees whatâs going on in Seattle with the homeless population, but he literally could not give less of a fuck.
