aside from this being horrifying because it indicates a shift in the purpose of the state department from diplomacy to national security, it’s also bad because before pompeo was CIA director he was a congressman, and as such he was in super tight with the family research council
the family research council is really really violently transphobic, among other bad things
so, if you are trans and want your gender marker changed on your passport, BEGIN FILING YOUR PAPERWORK NOW, BEFORE POMPEO IS CONFIRMED. it is incredibly likely that his state department will not process any such paperwork, so your best bet is to get it in during this transition period.
